Adaptronics covers a great variety of industrial application areas. In any situation where deformations of any kind occur, in particular fast movements and acceleration – be it in road, rail or water vehicles with their complex drives, aviation and space travel systems, elevators, rollers in paper and print machines as well as machine tools – vibrations are also not far away. These vibrations and the accompanying noise are usually very irritating and impose severe restrictions for example on the life cycle, comfort and performance of the equipment or machines. This is where Adaptronics with its new solution approaches can help. Adaptronics International GmbH provides not only concepts, but also usable products from its own in-house development and manufacture departments.
What is Adaptronics?
An adaptronic system generally consists of sensors that monitor the relevant state conditions, a data processing system incl. the control, the power electronics and actuating elements that initiate forces into the structure that compensate for the disturbance. This combination is adjusted to the vibrating and noise-emitting structural system, and through constant adjustment (adaption) it permits increased contour accuracy, faster and at the same time more precise motion sequences as well as vibration and noise reduction. In doing this, Adaptronics greatly benefits from mechatronics products, which make a variety of intelligent drive and actuator concepts available. Passive methods can also frequently be useful – for example, adaptive absorbers that independently adjust their effective frequency to the respective disturbance without electric power.
